Steel Industries Breaks Ground for Expansion

$12-million will add heat treating, more machining

June 29, 2006 -- Steel Industries Inc. broke ground for its $12-million capital expansion project on June 28. The Redford Twp., MI, operation produces open-die forgings and rolled rings, and announced earlier this year it planned to add heat-treating capabilities to its operation.

A new, state-of-the-art heat- treating complex will be installed on land adjacent to its present site. The additions will include CNC machining equipment, too, as well as ancillary processing equipment to enhance and expand Steel Industries’ product offering.

This expansion will increase the Detroit-area operation to 217,000 ft2 and create more than 20 new jobs.

With nearly a century of history, the Redford Township open die forging and seamless rolled ring producer offers heat treating and rough machining for all forged shapes and sizes it manufacturers. It serves the power generation, oil and gas, industrial machinery, machine tool, mining, construction, and transportation industries.

Steel Industries Inc. has been in operation for nearly a century, and supplies forgings to customers in the power generation, oil & gas, industrial machinery, machine tool, mining, construction, and transportation industries.
