Industry Collaborative Begins Research On Die Wear

The Forging Industry Educational and Research Foundation (FIERF) recently granted start-up funding for a research project on die-wear reduction at the Ohio State University's Engineering Research Center for Net Shape Manufacturing (ERC/NSM) at www.ercnsm.org or at www.cpforming.org.

This project officially commenced on July 15, 2006 and is targeted toward the application of advanced ceramic-based materials and efficient lubrication systems to improve tool life in warm and hot forging.

To learn more about this project, or to become involved, visit the ERC/NSM website or contact FIERF's director of Research and Education George Mochnal or Professor and Director, Dr. Taylan Altan, tel. 614-292-5063, or by e-mail at [email protected]
