ZKM now working on first aerospace supply program

March 12, 2007 — ZKM Forging , a wholly owned subsidiary of Ladish Co, Inc. has earned AS9100 accreditation, as certified by Bureau Veritas. SAE AS9100 is the designation for the quality-system requirements for suppliers to the aerospace industry.

Jozef Burdzy, president of ZKM's management board and general director, states that "with this certification, ZKM has demonstrated that its quality system meets the most demanding standards in the industry. This accreditation opens the door for us to bid on the most technically advanced forgings now being manufactured anywhere in the world."

In February, ZKM began work on its first aerospace order, a support structure for the Airbus A320.

The Polish forger was founded in 1978, and acquired by Ladish Co. in 2005. ZKM supplies technically advanced forgings to more than a dozen heavy-industrial markets.

Ladish produces engineered metal components to jet-engine, aerospace, and general industrial manufacturers. Jack Franczak, Ladish director of Quality & Technology, European Operations, stated:, "ZKM has conducted more than two-thousand hours of training for dozens of the organization's engineering, production and quality personnel. ZKM is now ready to commence and sustain operations that meet the highest standards for quality assurance."
