A cross-section view of the Meleform Flow-Forge press, which does not require a deep foundation for stability. The press unit would weigh four to five tons, and would be set on a 10x10x5-ft. (LxWxD) base for the platen.
The hydraulic carriage contains all of the power requirements for the Meleform operating system, and is designed as a modular indexing unit that makes it possible to form parts of varying lengths.

Engaged and formed
This sketch shows a closer view of the Meleform Flow-Forge press, through which a die is pulled; the male segments of the die engage the tapered surface of the upper platen to impart the design form to the workpiece.
